I plan on taking my 13 year old brother to the Orlando/Daytona area the first week of April. Our primary focus will be a day or two at NASA as I have been there before myself. Seaworld and Daytona Speedway are also on the list. Disney is not an interest. Universal Studio is a maybe. Anyone have any other ideas a 13 year old boy would like to see/do. He loves music and the sciences.

Ripley's Believe It Or Not (It mostly has to do with science, its a interesting museum basically, so he would probably like that)

Gatorland (You get to see lots of gators of course and shows)

Universal (You should defintely go, it so fun)

Wet 'n Wild (Another waterpark)

Fun Spot Action Park (They have go-karts and rides and cool stuff like that)

Daytona Beach

City Walk (You can just hang out, walk around, go to restraunts and stuff like that)

Central Park Zoo

Magical Midway (Its like funspot because it has go-karts, food, video games, etc)

I know you said Disney is not an interest, but does your brother totally understand that it is not all just little princesses and such? There are also three other parks, and considered you mentioned that he loves music and Sciences, I would reccomend a few things at Disney.

Pleasure Island...

there is plenty of music and fun here, perfect for a 13 year old who loves music!

Epcot...

two of the most thrilling rides on Disney property reside here, Test Tract and Mission Space. If he loves science, he will also love inoventions here at Epcot. There is plenty science residing in Epcot. I have met many different kids who say they don't want to go to Disney World because it is all for little kids, but then they go, and they come back loving it. Just to let you know also, the Daytona Speedway resides at Disney World, right next to the Magic Kingdom. Make sure your brother knows what actually is at Disney before he totally turns it down.

By writing "he loves music and the sciences," you've given an exact description of MOSI (Museam of Science and Industry). Not that far (in Tampa), the 45 min. drive is really worth it for him. MOSI has hands on interactive displays about music and science. They also include the IMAX dome theater and a lot of varieties of things to do, such as a room where you can experience a hurricane, ride a bicycle on a piece of string 3 stories high (yes, they made it safe), take control of landing a space shuttle in a real cabin, and others such as touching lightening or looking at a car with hail.

In NASA go to the Astronaut hall of fame, also have interactive science stuff like jumping on the moon, or experience different types of gravity.

If it's too cold for seaworld, you can visit the Flight museam, where you can see and ride in old planes out of Orlando.

In Plant City, the biggest strawberry town in North America, they hold their annual famous Strawberry festival in a fun rural area, a lot of fun!

Other Popular destinations worth to take a drive to:

Clearwater Beach in West Central Florida. Has #1 beach in America!

Busch Gardens

Aquatica (a part of Seaworld, much newer and I heard it was the best!)

Clermont- only as a detour, beautiful to drive through (towering hills and farms)

Tampa Performing Arts Center

Well I can tell you that I grew up in florida and the one place I loved around that age was Gatorland. My parents gave me years passes to disney and big theme parks but I always loved Gatorland. It is an awesome place. It is about $20 to get in but there is tons of stuff to do. There are parts that are interesting and educational about snakes, gators, lizzards, turtles etc and they let the kids (older kids and teens) hold baby gators and have their picture taken holding a python. There are gator shows and a train that takes you around the park. There is a swamp walk where it is anyones guess what wild life you might see. And the entire park is made up of endless boardwalks that go over a huge lake fulls of crocs and gators. Dont worry it is completely safe but well worth a day out. He would love it!

Also if he loves music you could take him to Pleasure Island. It is owned by disney and it has lots of stores and restaurants full of rock legend collectibles like madonnas tour costumes, famous guitarists instruments and stuf like that. :)

Hi, I have several cats, and moved with my job regularly, they got so when I stacked the cat crates in the yard to hose the dust off they gathered around, not wanting to be left. I like animal crates, like dog crates to transport cats long distances in because they have more room and a small plastic shoebox containing litter fits better. When you get where you're going, don't let them out of the crate until your stuff is in the house. Don't want them going out in a strange place and getting lost. They can come out of the crate in the house as soon as the movers are gone. Show them the new location of their litter pan , food and water bowls. Wait a week or so before you let them out of the house. It is you and your son they love not your house or town. Take them with you, you'll all be happy!
