A reputable travel agent will NEVER charge you. They are paid directly by Disney via commissions. If you have never been to Disney before, use a travel agent but choose one via the internet that specializes in Disney World vacations. Make sure they are a specialist! The best ones will even make all of your dining and activity reservations for you. They will also watch for discounts to come up and change your reservation automatically to the lower price.

One such agency is http://www.themagicforless.com and you can find several others if you do a search.

I would highly recommend using a travel agent. You don't pay anything extra for using a travel agent. Disney pays the travel agent. The price disney gives you and the price an agent gives you will be or should be the same. The benefits of a travel agent are priceless. You can call as many times a day as you would like to ask questions, a travel agent will help you plan your itinerary, help you get the most for your money and help you choose the right package and resort. I am currently working on quite a few disney vacations including my own in feb so if you have any questions feel free to email me. No strings attatched, I got in the business so I could help create magical vacations and help dreams come true to those who usually couldnt afford it.

Just a note on using expedia, orbitz...etc for airline tickets i would recommend them but not for full travel. For Example the visitors that were stuck in the Hurricanes and used travel agents were the first to be helped those who booked with those discount companies online were there the longest.

Call the actual hotel you plan to stay at (and do stay on-site, even if it's at one of the budget hotels) and they'll help you plan your whole trip (Go to Disney.com to help you decide which you want to stay at). If you stay on-site, you'll save a ton on gas costs as well as keep peace of mind because you're only a bus or monorail ride away from your room (instead of having to drive allllllll the way out of the grounds when you're pooped, or forget a sweater, or need sunscreen, etc, and there's a lot of ground to cover!!). Travel agents have a lot of money to gain out of the Disney deal... but if you ask the Disney cast members to help ya, you're more likely to get solid answers.

Oh, and if you like taking vacations, be sure to stop by one of the Disney Vacation Club desks (they're in all the hotels and all over the parks) to take their tour... you get LOTS free stuff out of it at the very least, and at best you'll take a million more vacations in the future down there!!

AAA!!! We went through AAA and got an eight night stay at the Walt Disney World All-Star Movies for $479.00!!! It's a good size room, clean, friendly staff and free transportation to all Disney locations i.e. theme parks, water parks, Downtown Disney etc.....

I would also check the Disney Web site it walks you right through booking your trip!!

We went all on our own. 1st 2 times stayed in Kissimmee on 192. It was about 39.00/night poolside (Bestwestern East Gate I think) and it was a straight drive to Disney. I could come and go as I pleased, no waiting for a shuttle bus no Meres buses etc. You have any restaurant you could imagine along rte 192 also. The 3rd time we stayed onsight. It was ok, but we felt trapped with my 4 yr old son and nephew. The food court was limited and after a few days it was not appealing anymore. I just like knowing I can go where and when I please. We also hit sea world, universal and MGM...at our pace. We visited till we were ready to drop and when we wanted to go home it was like NOW, not in 45 min when the bus arrived that was too crowded etc. Any how that is my personal experience. I vote go on your own, rent a car and relax, nobody's schedule but your own. afterall you ARE on vacation. Oh yeh I am a single mom and took my son at age 3,and 4 alone. 3rd visit we went with my sister in law and nephew.

definately use the cd because the travel agent might charge you a little extra money that you could be using on suvniers for your family and friends. trust me the cd tells the truth. (i've used it.) :)
