Question:
Some Disney World Questions ?
2009-01-23 13:15:29 UTC
My family is planning on going to Disney World in December, when will the dates for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2009 be available? Is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party like Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party? What is the weather like toward the beginning of December?

When I went in September 2008 I had a bad experience on Disney's Magical Express, did anyone else every have a problem? Maybe it was because my flight was delayed and we arrived around 8:30 PM. But it took forever to get a bus to the airport (about 30 minutes), and then we sat on the bus for 45 minutes until we finally left for our resort. Our luggage didn't arrive at the hotel until around 7:30 the next morning. Is this typical waiting time for a bus and till you leave the airport, or was this just because our plane was delayed and landed later than most flights?

Also:
What is your Disney favorite hotel?
What is your favorite restaurant at each park?
What is you favorite ride at each park?
What was your favorite experience at Disney World?

The dates for MVMCP are not released until the Summer prior to Christmas. Disneyworld.com will have the dates sometime in July or August.

MVMCP is a lot of fun! I've gone several times. It's a separate ticket event.

They have special parades, fireworks, activities etc. They serve free cookies and hot chocolate. It snows on Main Street! Even though Disney hasn't released the dates to MVMCP 2009, they do have a good decription of what goes on...

December is my favorite time to go. Pack for Summer and Winter! It can be real nice, not too hot, and it can also be cold, especially at night.

Disney's Magical Express- your luggage does not go with you on the same bus. It's taken to a warehouse where it's sorted and then taken to your resort. Therefore, waiting 3-4 hours is common. I've never waited on the bus for 45 minutes. I think that part is unusual. But, waiting in line to get on the bus for 30 minutes isn't.

It's easy to get lost when you drive from the airport to WDW. I always get lost, that's why I take the Magical Express. Then, I rent a car at the Car Care Center just outside the Magic Kingdom. Alamo has 2 locations that I know of within WDW. The other is at the Swan.

My favorite hotel that I've stayed in is Port Orleans French Quarter. I've also stayed at it's sister resort Port Orleans Riverside. I like the French Quarter better because it's smaller and doesn't book huge crowds of teenagers that come out in December for cheerleading/ sports competitions.

I've also stayed at the Pop Century, which I also really liked. I've heard that it's the best out of the Value Resorts. Plus, they have their own bus. If you stay at one of the All-Stars, sometimes they share a bus, which is 3 different resorts and there's usually a long, long line at the parks to get back to the hotel.

I love Tony's at the Magic Kingdom. There's a Rain Forect Cafe' just outside the gates of Animal Kingdom. Also at the Marketplace in DTD. I like T-REX at the Marketplace. It's not as loud as the Rain Forest, plus I think the theming is better!

My favorite ride is Soarin', which is at Epcot. I love everything at the Magic Kingdom! I really like the Kilimanjaro Safari at Animal Kingdom.

My favorite experience would have to be MVMCP. If you go, don't go on Friday's or Saturday's. That's when the locals go too and it's more crowded, typically.

Wow, that's a lot of questions.

You will be able to find out the times and dates for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at the earliest in October. It's kind of similar to the Halloween party, but different decorations of course and nobody wears costumes!

In Decemeber the weather in Orlando becomes sort of unpredictable. Some day it's still warm enough to swim and other days you might need a sweatjacket in the parks. However, at night you will always need a light jacket. Pack some pairs of pants too just in case. Basically be prepared for spring and fall type weather.

I went to Disney in September of 2008 and had a wonderful experience with Magical Express. Your problem was you took a late flight. On your Magical Express tickets they tell you to pack a small bag of clothes, toothbrush, etc. because it can take up to 7 hours for your luggage to be transported from the airport to your room. However, sometimes you get lucky and it gets there sooner. As for waiting until the bus left, you went during a slow time therefore they would wait longer for the buses to fill up before departing. Since you plan on going during a busy time, you won't have to wait long for the buses to depart since they will fill up fast.

My favorite Disney hotel is the Pop Century. It's a value resort but it's the best of the values and it's new, so it's nice and clean there. I recommend staying in the 50's section. It's also the first stop on the Magical Express service so that's another plus.

My favorite restaurant in each park:

Magic Kingdom- Plaza Restaurant.

Hollywood Studios- Sci-Fi drive in theatre.

Animal Kingdom- Tusker House or Rainforest Cafe.

Epcot- Le Cellier.

My favorite ride in each park:

Magic Kingdom- Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion.

Hollywood Studios- Tower of Terror, Toy Story Mania.

Epcot- Soarin, Test Track.

Animal Kingdom- Expedition Everest, Dinosaur.

(Couldn't pick just one!)

My favorite experience at Disney World:

Every time we go it's a new experience and it gets better and better. I think my new favorite experience this time we go in March is going to be on our last day. We plan on going to every park in one day and doing two of our favorite rides in each park.

I hope you enjoy your trip!

We arrived at the airport late in the evening. I thought our luggage may not get to us till morning. I had everyone pack stuff they may need in carry ons. Once we check into our resort, then grabbed a quick bite, our bags were waiting for us in the room. I have used the Magical Express twice with no problems. I would say our total wait time for the bus to get there and then leave was 30 minutes

Hi. I can answer every single one of your questions. I've been to WDW many times so I know all of the answers to your questions.

The dates for Disney's Very Merry Christmas Party I believe will start in late November and end on December 19. I don't know why it ends before Christmas. It's weird.

The events at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party are fake snow on Main Street USA, free hot cocoa, a special Christmas Parade. You could even meet Santa Clause. The Cinderella Castle is lit up beautifully.

As you could see it is nothing like Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

I'm sorry I've never used Disney's Magical Express because I'm only 1 hour away from WDW. But my friend has used it and that did not happen. I'm sorry about that horrible experience though.

My favorite WDW hotel has got to be either the Grand Floridian or the Beach Club. I haven't stayed in the Grand Floridian for years though but I always visit it and it's the most gorgeous thing. I would always stay there but it's not a Disney Vacation Club Resort.

My favorite restaurant at Magic Kingdom has to been Cinderella's Royal Table. But it's not because of the food. It's because of the wonderful experience. I haven't been there in a few years either because reservations are so difficult to get. At Epcot my favorite restaurant is in China. I'm an extremely picky eater so it's hard to find a restaurant I like. St Disney's Hollywood Studios my favorite restaurant s the Prime Time Cafe. The experience is so much fun. They treat you like family. You have to call them Aunt or Uncle or something like that. Set the table. They even give you timeout. It's funny. I know you're going to laugh at this but my favorite place to eat in Animal Kingdom is the ribs fast food place. I know it's funny but the table service restaurants aren't all that good.

I have so many favorite rides that I wouldn't be able to give you just one from eacy park. I like about 90% of the rides there. I can't narrow it down

I've had so many good experiences at WDW but my two favorites were only a little while ago. Over Halloween and Christmas.

Go to http://www.disneyworld.com for more information.

Also the weather is usually pretty cool. It goes up and down here so be prepared. One day it could be 90 the next day 40.

Favorite ride at each park:

Magic Kingdom: Space Mountain (too bad its closing in the spring for a while)

EPCOT: Soarin' (rode it twice in a row using the Fastpass system)

Hollywood Studios: Aerosmith

Animal Kingdom: Expedition Everest

Favorite moment: Watching my youngest son who is always in his older brother's shadow get picked on our day to Blizzard Beach to be "Honorary Ski Captain" for the day. He got us into the park 30 minutes before it even open, free towels, free drinks, free locker, and a covered shelter right in the middle of the park! He also got to be the first person to go down Summit Plummet that day!

they haven't put the dates up yet.

they usually put things on their website six months in advane. i know that the event starts up in mid november so you should check back at this link in early to mid may. and on this link it will tell you what the festivities are at the party.

some things are:

-snow on main street

-hot coco and cookies

-dance parties with characters

-the night before xmas play

-going on rides

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/magic-kingdom/special-events/mickeys-very-merry-christmas-party/

the average daytime high in dec is 72 but many days are higher than that. (when i went in 2007 in early dec it was in the 80's every day and this past time when i went in late dec in was in the low 80's part of the time and low 70's the rest of the time)

and the night time lows are about 51.

i'd bring shorts, jeans, t-shirts, and a sweatshirt or lght jacket for early mornings and later at night.

i think that bad experiences are few and far between on the magical express bus and that your bad experience was due to your flight being delayed. see they usually fill every bus in every time slot so when your time slot had to shift they had to figure out where there was room to put you. and since they had expected you earlier it also screwed up the luggage and usually the luggage is brought to your room with in a few hours of you getting to the hotel. but they start delievering luggage to the rooms closest to the front of the resort and work theri way back so if you we in a room further from the main building it could take a bit longer.

they always say to be sure you take what you need in your carry on bag incase your luggage does take longer than expected.

i did have an issue with magical express when i went this past dec-jan. i know that you are supposed to get an envolope taped to your door the night before you check out and that tells you what time you need to get the magical express but back to the airport but we didn't recieve an envolope. there was a message on our phone saying no need to come to the desk to check out just be sure to get on the bus that comes 3 hours prior to your flight time. i was confused so my sister went and asked at the desk that night what we were supposed to do and they said the same thing just get on the bus 3 hours prior ot your flight time. so when we went to the bus 3 hours prior the driver said ok only the people that have a time slot for the 9:45 bus can get on. well we didn't have a time slot and weren't on the check list the driver had but he squeezed us on cuz if we had waited for another bus we wouldn't have made it to the airprot in time. the driver even said you didn't get an envolope on your door last night and we said no and he was very upset with the hotel for not doing what they were supposed to.

but for the most part the ME bus system is great. just be sure you either get an envolope on your door the night before you leave or visit the front desk and have them give you a time slot (not just say 3 hours prior but make them give you a sheet with a time on it)
