Hi guys,
My family and I are going to Disneyworld in December- January and we want to know a few things to make our trip better.

-Any tips?
-Hidden cool things you can do like pull out the sword from the rock in front of Cinderella's Castle
-Good places to get food or your favourite snacks from Disneyworld

And if you can answer this it would be great: what are the benefits of staying at a Disneyworld resort?

Thanks :)

Others have given you some good advice, so I'll just add a couple of things. Since you say you're going in December-January, I'm going to assume you mean around Christmas/New Year. Be prepared for huge crowds, since this is possibly the most crowded time of year for Disney parks.

By all means, use the Fastpass system as much as possible, but be aware that some Fastpasses run out early, and may not be available for a particular ride again for hours, if at all on any given day. Toy Story Midway Mania in Hollywood Studios is a case in point.

Hollywood Studios does have two fun places to eat...50's Diner and Sci-Fi...but they will require reservations and will be pricey. Toy Story Pizza Planet is a good deal, and doesn't require reservations. The restaurants in EPCOT's World Showcase are pretty much all very good by Disney standards.

Don't miss the Candy Lady presentation at the Japan pavilion in EPCOT...she is amazing.

Don't let anyone talk you out of going to Animal Kingdom by saying it's boring or that it's just a zoo. It's probably the most beautiful of all the parks. If you get there early in the day, get on the Kilimanjaro Safari ride first, while the animals are still active. And don't miss the Lion King show or the "It's Tough to Be a Bug" show underneath the Tree of Life. Flame Tree Barbecue is pretty good at Animal Kingdom, as is Pizzafari. There is also a Rain Forest Cafe there.

Do stay on resort property. There is free transportation from each resort to and from the parks, and you get to use the Extra Magic Hours benefit. On certain days at designated parks (the schedule changes) you can enter up to one hour before, or stay up to four hours after, the general public. It's a great perk. We tend to use the evening EMHs...if you enter the parks during the last parade of the day, you can practically walk onto the major rides without waiting in line, and can ride as often as you like.

Enjoy your trip!

1.If you go to Animal Kingdom and don't see the Lion King Show I don't know what you're doing with your life

2.Use fast-passes effectively. They're trying out a new system, but the classic way to get them is by putting your ticket into the machine. You come back to the ride when the time on the second ticket says and are able to go into a shorter line. You can get one every two hours.

I think the new way has to do with picking what rides you want ahead of time.

3.Don't worry too much about the "Cool hidden things". You will probably waste time looking for them when a normal trip will be just as fun.

4.If you want to see Fantasmic in Hollywood studios (Which I recommend) get in line a while before it starts to get good seats. The best seats will actually be from waiting to see the second performance (There aren't always two), or getting in line really early. Ride rides while the performance you're not seeing, as lines will be shorter. If you see the first one try and leave before the show is over, because as soon as it lets out you'll have a crowd of people all trying to get on the same bus.

5.I like the printable maps on their website because you can just put stuff on there that you're interested in, and they're smaller than the ones at the park.

Hollywood studios has the best places to eat. Mak sure you call months in advance. I love the 50's prime time cafe, where you sit in a old school 50's kitchen and 'Mom' serves you homemade meatloaf. Then theres the Sci fi drive in theatre where you get to eat in a car while you watch old sci fi clips under the starlit sky.

You also must try a Turkey leg! Theyre giant and delicous and they have them

at stands throughout the park, mostly magic kingdom.

I also can't wait to go to the new fantasyland, it is open when you go try the be our guest restauraunt. Its remodeled after the Beasts castle.

If your staying a disneyworld resort guest they have after hours for one park each night. These are great because the lines are short.

Also if you have never been to disneyworld before thw fantsamic show at hollywood studios is a must see.

Benefits of a Disney resort:

*Free transportation to/from the airport

*Free, convenient, & reliable transportation between your resort and the parks (off-site hotels often offer free transportation to and from Disney, but it is rarely convenient or reliable)

*Extra Magic Hours - each day, a park is open early or stays open late, just for resort guests

*Dining plan - you only have the option to purchase a dining plan, or take advantage of free dining if it is offered, if you are staying in a Disney resort.

Good places to eat:

Cosmic Rays at Magic Kingdom

Chef Mickey's at Contemporary

Sci-Fi Dine In at Hollywood Studios

Yak & Yeti at Animal Kingdom

Tusker House at Animal Kingdom

Good snacks:

Turkey leg

Dole Whip (at Aloha Isle in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom)

My tips are to be standing at the gates when the parks open...and get reservations at one of the sitdown restaurants for the mid afternoon...in Magic Kingdom I like to eat at the Crystal Palace at the end of main street by the adventure land bridge...get resrvations first thing when you walk in the park (they fill up everyday fast)...or call 407-wdw-dine (I think that's the number)...welcome to Orlando...enjoy.

Like the last answers said, it will be busy, and no matter how high of expectations you have, WDW will exceed them! I agree with everything the previous answers said, so take that advice in addition to mine. Here's some of my favorite things to do and some tips and hotels.

I would start by going to disneyworld.com and allears.net! This year they are running limited time magic. They announce them as they occur. Check limitedtimemagic.com on Fridays to see that week's announcement! The following are my favorite rides, shows, and more. Some of them are kind of aimed towards kids (like Buzz), but are fun for all ages. If you are "too cool" though, don't do it, just know they are great fun. Any ways, here you go:

Magic Kingdom: Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Wishes, Main Street Electrical Parade, Celebrate the Magic, Big Thunder Mountain, Buzz Light Year, Small World (Music's annoying, but it's a classic), Jungle Cruise, Mad T Party, Philhar Magic, Monster's Inc Laugh Floor, Peter Pan, Under The Sea, and Carousel of Progress.

EPCOT: Ellen's Energy Adventure, Gran Fiesta Tour, Journey Into Imagination, Maelstrom, SOARIN, The Seas, SpaceShip Earth, Test Track, and Illuminations. (I don't know how much you like educational shows so I left them out.) Additionally there are lots of entertainers and things to see.

Hollywood Studios: Great Movie Ride, Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow, Muppet Vision 3D, Rock 'N Roller Coaster (ONLY IF YOU LIKE BIG THRILL), Star Tours, Backlot Tour, Toy Story Mania, Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror (Thrill, but more show than thrill), Beauty and the Beast, Fantasmic, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Lights Motors Actions, and Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Tons of shows, so beyond this, just kinda do what looks cool. These are the must dos though!

Animal Kingdom: Conservation Station, Dinosaur, Expedition Everest, It's Tough to Be A Bug, Kali River Rapids (You will get wet), Kilimanjaro Safaris, Festival of the Lion King, Finding Nemo, Flights of Wonder, There are endless trails and paths to walk through and see animals, so I'll let you decide on that.

As far as dining goes, for most sit down restaurants you will need a reservation. You will have a good time no matter what though. Just go with a smile. :-) There are also tons of character meet and greets through out the park. Look at the calendar on Disneyworld.com to plan what days you will be in what park to make sure you can see the shows, as they don't all run every night. Also, Disney Quest (located in Downtown Disney) is a five story arcade that has awesome simulators, new video games, and the classics. There are two water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Blizzard Beach offers a more thrilling experience, while Typhoon Lagoon is better for families. All three require extra admission. (or if you have "fun and more" on your tickets, that is what it's for.). Disney World has two mini golf areas, also requiring extra admission (or "fun and more"), that have a touch of Disney Magic. As far as hotels go I would recommend the following;

Value: Pop Century, great fun and you can walk across the bridge to the newest resort, Art Of Animation.

Moderate: Port Orleans French Quarter, you can walk to River Side. It is the smallest Disney resort, which is good as you will walk a ton. You can take a boat to Downtown Disney and back.

Deluxe: Beach Club, sand bottom pool and lazy river. You can walk to Epcot or Hollywood Studios. Additionally, you can walk to Yacht Club, Board Walk, Swan, and Dolphin. Five hotels for the price of one! You do need a valid Beach Club room key to access the pool though.

Also, things like Fantasmic, everyone reads the same tip: the second show is less crowded. Because everybody reads that though, it's not so true anymore. Take tips like that at your own risk! Make sure that you have at least one day for swimming and relaxing at the hotel. Get Fast Passes for the newest rides, as they are usually the longest lines. You will be there as they are updating to the new MyMagic+ system, meaning that rather than having a ticket, a hotel room key, fast passes, gift/credit cards, you will just wear a wrist band. The wristband will count as your park admission, your hotel key card, credit card (optional), and your FastPass. The FastPass system will be upgraded to FastPass+, so you decide online which attractions you want a fastpass for on which days at what time. You can then edit your decisions in the park, online, or on a mobile device. Like I said earlier, you will have a good time no matter what, and Disney World will exceed ANY expectations you have, no matter how high they are. Benefits of a Disney Resort are early admission to the parks, complimentary transportation to the parks, and you never truly leave the Disney Magic!

Hope I helped,

- Andrew

EPCOT.

I've never stayed in the resort but from what I can see, they objective is to make you feel like in a different place. And I think they do a good job. There's this one resort which has this hawaain Indonesian feel to it. With the palm trees and bamboo plants, etc.
