What shuttle service are you taking from Daytona Beach International (DAB) to Orlando International (OIA/MCO)? I know of no complimentary service, provided by the airport/airline, that does this. Therefore, it must be private & at a charge? Is it Dots? If so, verify that they indeed go directly from airport to airport. From what I remember, Dots departs from their base (3-miles away from DAB) then goes to OIA. In other words, you would still have to get to their bus/shuttle terminal after you land in Daytona. Hopefully, they have a continuous complimentary shuttle that takes you from DAB to their base. I believe they charge $35 one-way, $65 RT, from base to OIA, for each person. A cab would cost you about $140, one-way, to go directly from DAB to Universal, regardless the number of people. Furthermore, if you take a shuttle to OIA, you'll then need to pay for another shuttle to the Universal area. Do the math, you'll conclude that it'll be cheaper to go by cab if you're a party of 4. If you're a group of 3, your savings will be minimal vs the inconvenience of a shared shuttle.
I'll assume that you're not going directly to Universal, either from DAB or OIA. If you are, whatcha gonna do w/your luggage? Once you get to OIA, follow the ground transportation signs at the airport (lower level, below baggage claim). You'll see a Mears Transportation kiosk. They can take you to any hotel via shuttle, but once again the same math applies. Depending on the size of your group, going by cab can be cheaper and it's definately more convenient/expedient.
