Whats the one must see attraction or show at Disney?
2006-11-20 18:44:18 UTC
I'm spending a week at Disney Christmas week. I know it'll be so busy, but I'm so excited! I'm planning on spending a day at each park, but have an extra day. I plan to visit Downtown Disney that day and go to the circus that night! What is the one must see show and/or attraction, best restaurant, etc. Just give me your absolute favorite, don't worry about price etc.

Are you asking about favorite shows, attractions, and restaurants at Downtown Disney or at all of Walt Disney World?

You mentioned you were thinking about seeing the circus. Do you mean Cirque Du Soleil: La Nouba. If so, you're in for a real treat. It's literally the most amazing, breathtaking show I've ever seen. I see it every summer now and it just gets more exciting each time. Wait until you see the young girls with the chinese yo-yos. WOW!

Now, the best show AND attraction at Downtown Disney is Cirque du Soleil: La Nouba. It's hard for me to say what restaurant at Downtown Disey is the best because I've only dined at a couple of them. I absolutely loved Bongos Cuban Cafe. They served an awesome Cuban sandwich! But I hated Fulton's Crab House. It's gorgeous restaurant and the location is great, but the food and service was just about horrible. In fact, we were almost late for Cirque du Soleil because it took so long for us to get our food. The whole meal started out great. The waitress was very personal and talktive - asked us where we were from and told us about where she was from, she was very friendly, but not that weird friendly that makes you feel awkward, like they're being really fake. She brought out crackers and the restaurant's signature crab boursin, which was pretty good, but nothing like my grandmother's original boursin. My boyfriend loved his salad and my clam chowder was okay, quite bland. My boyfriend ordered the Alaskan King Crab legs for his entree and I ordered the pan-seared scallops. It took two full hours after the time we recieved our appetizers to get our entrees. I had to keep reminding our waitress that we were going to be late for the show. Finally, our food came out. My scallops were awful! They were raw in the center! I'm pretty sure they burned the first batch because pan-seared scallops do not take long at all, and my boyfriend's crab legs were cold, so they must've been sitting out while they cooked more scallops, and, of course, they came out uncooked because they were rushing to get them out. This nearly ruined the night for me, I was so stressed out. I couldn't find our waitress who had our cards ("Keys to the World") and I couldn't find the manager. Finally the waitress came out and was like, "oh, you don't want dessert?" Hello?! I told her so many times that we were going to be late. Of course we didn't have time to have dessert! Anyway, I'm getting way too carried away. The Earl of Sandwich has great subs and salads for a decent price and the Wolf Gang Puck Cafe seems to be quite popular.

When my boyfriend and I go to Walt Disney World we always spend one day at each park and one day at Downtown Disney. We start off by checking out all the shops. We like the Lego Store with the giant Lego figures, the Disney Christmas store, the Disney pet store, the Once Upon a Toy Store, the memorabilia store, the candy stores, and I really love the Disney scrapbook store. We always eat at Bongos Cuban Cafe. I love it so much - the Cuban Sandwich and flan are just so delicious, and it's a really pretty restaurant, too. After we have lunch at Bongos, we go across the way to the AMC 24 Theater Complex to see a movie. The seating arrangement and seats make it a very comfortable, fun experience. After that we usually go to DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park if we have time because we try to go back to our room before the show to change into nicer clothes and have dinner if we're not eating at a restaurant at Downtown Disney. Downtown Disney is beautiful and lots of fun at night when everything's lit up, so we try to just walk around and look at everything before and after Cirque du Soleil.

Now, for all of Walt Disney World, there's four must-see shows on my list - IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth at EPCOT (fireworks,) Wishes Nighttime Spectacular at the Magic Kingdom (fireworks,) and Fantasmic! and Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show. My must-see attractions are Expedition Everest and DINOSAUR at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park; Spaceship Earth, Soarin', and Test Track at EPCOT; the Carousel of Progress, the Haunted Mansion, and Mickey's Philhar Magic at the Magic Kingdom; and the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney-MGM Studios. My favorite restaurants are the Rainforest Cafe at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park, the Coral Reef Restaurant and Le Cellier Steakhouse at EPCOT, Tony's Town Square Restaurant at the Magic Kingdom, and Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano.

Sorry, I know, I give really long answers.

You're right about it being busy at Christmas. It's crazy busy! I live in Florida and as a Disney season pass holder, I've been to Disney World five times in the last year with my wife and kids. Here are the things you must not miss...

Magic Kingdom Park: Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Carribean, & Micky's Philharmagic.

EPCOT: Soarin' & Test Track. Get to the park early and get fast passes for both of these. You'll spend a minimum of two hours of your life in the Soarin' stand-by line and you don't want to miss this ride. It's the best attraction at any park in Orlando. Finally, do not miss EPCOT's Illuminations Fireworks show shown at 9pm every night. Find a place to sit near the United Kingdom pavillion for the best views.

MGM Studios Theme Park: Rockin' Roller Coaster, and Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Get a fastpass for Rockin' Roller Coaster. Also be sure not to miss the show Fantasmic.

Animal Kingdom: Dinosaur, The Safari, & Expedition Everest.

Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney: See a comedy show at the Comedy Club but most importantly, do not miss a chance to go into the Adventurers Club. The Adventurers Club is probably one of the funnest places in all of Disney World.

Best places to eat:

Breakfast:

The Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge

Chef Mickey's at Contemporary Resort (This is a character Breakfast - reservations are a must)

Lunch or Dinner:

The Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney

Big River Brewing Co. on the Boardwalk

ESPN Club on the boardwalk.

Californina Grill atop the Contemporary Resort - Collared shirt and slacks required. Make a reservation for dinner 1/2 hour prior the the scheduled time for the Wishes fireworks show at Magic Kingdom.

In the Parks:

Magic Kingdom - Pecos Bill Cafe in Frontierland

Animal Kingdom - Flame Tree BBQ

MGM - Sci-Fi Dine in Theater

EPCOT - Rose & Crown Dining Room at the UK pavillion

Just remember to relax & have fun. You're going to be fighting crowds so take advantage of the fast pass option whenever you can.

You asked for my absolute favorite... Here it is: The Adventurers Club at Pleasure Island. Soarin' is a very close second.

Hope you have a great time!

A good restaurant in Downtown Disney is The ESPN restaurant,

In Disneyland I liked the Blue Bayou and for breakfast I liked the

character breakfast at the Plaza Inn. I never saw any shows but I do have a few favorite attractions like the Pirates ride and Star tours, the Haunted Mansion. But if you are going at Christmas time be prepared. It is extremly busy, I went last year with my family. The crowds were insane, the lines were so long. At 10am

Christmas day the park was at capacity. Plan ahead.

Soarin at Epcot was great. I loved it.

If you have any children, then they have to see It's a Small World.

You must get a smoked turkey leg in Frontier Land. It is the best.

I am raising a two year old granddaughter and her three year old brother. We took them both to Disney World about 4 months ago and we have one day left on our tickets so we are taking them back in two weeks for the Christmas celebration. We are also taking another 2 year old granddaughter with us.

I will let you know as a native Floridian and I have been around a lot longer than any of the Florida Disney parks. The least busy day of the year for Disney world is New Years Day. The busiest day is New Years Eve.

While at Down town Disney, you need to eat at the Rain Forest Cafe. They have wonderful food and you can't beat the atmosphere.

The new roller coaster at the Animal Kingdom is great but at MGM you have the Tower of Terror, and the Rock n Roll Roller-coaster, then Epcot has the GM test track, and Disney World has Space Mountain, you best bet would be to get the park hopper option, that way you could bounce around from park to park and just go on the things you like.

One show you MUST see is Fantasmic at the MGM Studios. It is breathtaking! One of the best shows Disney has ever created! Keep in mind this is a very popular show and you need to show up early to get a seat. I know when we watched it we waited close to 2 hours before the show started but it was well worth the wait in my opinion.

As for restaurant I would recommend doing the character breakfast at the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom. It's a buffet with everything you can think of...eggs, fruit, french toast....its a good choice if you want a variety.

I hope you enjoy your Disney vacation.

Well i got one for many of the parks but one only one would be Everest rollercoaster in Animal Kingdom Disney it is awesome, it sends you upside down backwards and you go up to this part that you stop and drop it feels like right off the track it rules oh yea not to mention the rellay cool yetti that scared the S*** out of me the first time i went on it. (also try Space Mountain, the rock n roller coaster and there's a dueling dragon coaster thats awesome too you hang your feet and it is the scariest S*** besides the everest ride. Hav fun in Disney nd don't forget the sunblock the sun is brutal down there.

You must see the Hoop-Dee-Doo-Revue at the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground! It's so much fun and everyone will love it, seriously, look it up. You can take the boat from the marina over to the campground or the bus. Either way, you will have alot of fun!

The ladies toilet line in any park, they surely will invent something faster than that. We just have to pay and really pay for everything but that needed attraction is free and long lines.
